Job Description:
OLIN, a leading landscape architecture and urban design firm, is seeking a three-quarter time (30 hours per week; includes benefits), Human Resources (HR) Manager with a passion for people, the arts and business, to become an integral part of our award–winning studio. Reporting to the CEO and serving on our Management Team, the HR Manager will help us ensure that we are applying our company mission of “…creating places that enhance life” within the studio itself.
Our firm is headquartered in a vibrant historic district in Center City Philadelphia, near Independence Hall and many cultural attractions and in the midst of excellent restaurants and other urban amenities. For over 30 years, our internationally recognized studio has brought exceptional landscape and urban design to our clients. Our goal is to ensure that all aspects of our business, including the management of human resources, match the high quality of our design.
In this newly established, hands-on position, our HR Manager will be responsible for compliance, administration, recruiting and employee staffing (not project staffing), HR policies and procedures and performance reviews. The HR Manager will also team with our CFO on compensation and benefits reviews and with our CEO and consultants on employee relations, employee development and training. While many of these systems and activities are already in place, we anticipate that the HR Manager will continue to improve each of these primary areas.
The ideal candidate has a passion for the arts, is effective in working with highly educated, creative employees and has previously established the human resources function within a company. The candidate has solid experience in and knowledge of compliance, including federal, Pennsylvania and local area employment laws, benefits, non-executive recruitment, and performance reviews. Drawing on his/her business acumen and experience, the candidate is skilled at using HR activities to produce business results. The candidate also has excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with partners of the firm. Most importantly, the successful candidate will be a team player who applies excellent relationship building and communication skills in maturely dealing with HR challenges and in inspiring others to create a positive and productive work environment.
Required Skills/Experience:
Qualified candidates must also meet the following requirements:
• 10 years of HR experience as a generalist or in several HR functions; 3+ years as an HR Manager;
• Solid experience in a privately held firm with 60-100 employees
• BA/BS degree;
• PHR designation and experience in a professional services firm are strongly preferred
